Don't Be Shy to Tackle JJ Houlahan Hurdle!

Aug 03, 2017

Big grey mare Don't Be Shy has made amends for a luckless debut run over the jumps with a dominant win in the E-Cycle Solutions BM120 Hurdle (3200m) at Sale.

The six-year-old was set an impossible task on debut at Bendigo getting back in the field and spotting the leaders more than 25 lengths at different stages of the race before running on well for fifth.

However the stable showed faith in apprentice jockey Lee Horner for the mare's second jumps run and he didn't let anybody down.
He positioned the mare in her favourite spot up near the speed and poured the pressure on leader Monte Carlo at the 1200m mark. With odds on favourite Murphy's Delight stalking her,

Don't Be Shy surged to the front inside the 800m mark kicking clear before the turn making it a true staying test and in doing so she set up a nice little break before the last jump.
Despite getting off the track after jumping the last,Don't Be Shy never looked like getting beaten and went on to defeat Murphy's Delight by two-lengths.

Despite a slow start to her career Don't Be Shy has become a bit of a stable star over the past 12 months, winning five races and now more than $100,000 in prize money.
And there's not much doubt she'll be adding to that tally again over the jumps in the coming weeks when she next tackles the JJ Houlahan Hurdle August 20th at Ballarat.
