ROSE FINALLY BLOOMS TO BREAK MAIDEN
Jun 29, 2017
Consistent filly Lebombo Rose has broken through at start number 12 with what turned out to be an easy win in the Craigs Royal Hotel Maiden (1200m) at Ballarat.
From her favorable draw the filly settled on the fence just off the speed and looked to be travelling like the winner on the point of the turn,But apprentice Ethan Brown was forced to wait an eternity for a run in the straight, and there were some nervous moments before he eventually squeezed through the tightest of gaps inside the 200 metre mark.
The three-year-old then chased down leader Redwood City to win running away by almost two lengths,It was a well overdue win for Lebombo Rose, who had notched five minor placings from her previous 11 attempts.
The filly's win was also a great thrill for her big syndicate of owners, many of whom have been loyal stable clients for the best part of 20 years.
